Stuart Andrew is a spirited conductor, educator, and pianist.

He has appeared across Victoria as a recital soloist, jazz pianist, associate artist, accompanist, and in theatre pit-orchestras. He demonstrates agility, understanding, and nuance through Classical, Jazz, Improvised, Contemporary and Popular styles of music. Stuart studied with Dr Donna Coleman at the University of Melbourne and in 2019 appeared as concerto soloist with The Grainger Wind Symphony, performing Igor Stravinsky's profound Concerto for Piano and Winds.

Stuart has established a reputation as a remarkably adept educator.

His holistic and quality teaching is highly regarded by students and colleagues. Stuart teaches all ages and abilities and is known for being able to inspire almost anyone at the keyboard. He is sought-after for his unique and effective early childhood lessons, his ability to genuinely connect with children, and his jovial and sensitive disposition with adult students. He has passion, care, and wisdom as an advanced teacher and mentor of pianists, composers, and other aspiring young musicians. He teaches privately and at Wantirna College.

Stuart works across Melbourne as an engaging, charming, and youthful director.

Currently, he is Director of the University of Melbourne Engineering Music Society’s Wednesday Stage Band and the Victorian Scout Band. He also works as a Musical Director for community theatre and guest conductor for community ensembles. Stuart owes his foundational training in conducting to Roland Yeung, and his extensive work in volunteer and community music-making affords him competent arts administration experience and skills.

Bachelor of Music (Performance: Pianoforte)

Stuart currently teaches out of his private studio in Collingwood and at Wantirna College (since 2023).
